observations on toronto

I’ve noticed a few things about this city since arriving two weeks ago:
• restaurants and bars in this city have their washrooms either way upstairs or way down in the basement—never on the same level as the main rooms. It would really suck to be in a wheelchair in Toronto.
• there’s a bevy of banks […]

i’m a fool for the school

I doubt there’s anybody who’s as excited as I am about the upcoming Jack Black movie, The School of Rock.
There’s good reason for this: I love movies about music, I think Jack Black is one of the most hilariously silly actors ever, and I like to laugh. If that wasn’t enough, Black has proven as […]

The weekend featured some of southern Ontario’s best DJs and producers, plus lots of organic food, a massive bonfire, and hundreds of people who get off on positive vibes. […]

So I’ve started a temporary fact-checking assignment at a magazine here in Toronto. It’s a funny story, one that would never happen in Vancouver: I was walking home from viewing an apartment (which I really want) and I ran into an old student press colleague who was having a drink at the Horseshoe. I stopped […]

well, that was interesting

After 72 hours on the bus, I can honestly say I have a different perspective on the country. For example, I knew the Prairies were flat, but I didn’t realize they were that flat. And I knew Manitoba was empty, but I didn’t realize it was that empty. You get the picture.
Kidding aside, it was […]
